The Admissions Process

Admissions at the Montessori School of Syracuse are conducted on a rolling basis. After you contact our office, we will send you an information packet that includes our brochure, tuition information and an application. We offer enrollment to families based upon the date their application was submitted, and there is no application fee. Once you have received your information packet, you are welcome to call or email the Admissions Director to schedule a school visit.

Open House

Twice a year, the Montessori School of Syracuse holds an Admissions Open House for families interested in learning more about our school.  Unlike a school visit during the week, the Open House gives parents a chance to speak with teachers and learn more about our curriculum.  Parents who observe in our classrooms and attend an Open House will gain a rich understanding of what makes Montessori such a special and unique learning opportunity

The Open House is held in a drop-in format, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon (November 15, 2009 and January 24, 2010).  In addition to touring our classrooms, you are invited to visit each of several curriculum tables set up in the school's Great Room.  You may also take this opportunity to meet with the admissions director, schedule a classroom observation, and collect an information packet and application.  Children are welcome to attend the Open House with their parents.  We will have tables set up for coloring and play-doh in our Great Room, in addition to a small snack table.

School Visit

School visits are conducted most weekday mornings and usually last between one and two hours. If your schedule makes a morning visit difficult, please ask and we will do our best to accommodate you. During a school visit, you will meet with the Admissions Director, tour the school, and spend 20 minutes observing in a classroom. These visits are for adults only, so please make alternate arrangements for young children.

Child Visit

Once the school visit has been completed, you will be invited to schedule a second visit. The purpose of this visit is for us to get to know your child better. This is a low key visit that involves playing with toys and casual conversation. It is an opportunity for us to determine your child's readiness and fit for the Montessori classroom.
